This Hidden History was created by SCAD student Mckay Calabrese as part of the SCAD art history department coursework, with guidance from art history professor Holly Goldstein, Ph.D., in 2023.

Artist Statement Expand

The creative component to accompany this text is a short animation. The animation was made frame by frame, where individual computer drawings were made and played in two second intervals. The creative component animates Thomas Sims’ journey to freedom as he traveled up and down the east coast.
