Marker Text*: This spring at McBean Creek was named Woodrow Wilson Spring by Resolution of the General Assembly of Georgia, January, 1960, to perpetuate the memory of Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States. Wilson (1856- 1924) spent his boyhood in Augusta, Georgia, and attended school there while his father was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.
By Resolution the General Assembly recognized Wilson as "one of the truly great men of his time... who had an abiding love for his country and his people and did everything humanly possible to prevent wars among nations and to preserve peace."
