Savannah, GA, February 13, 2026 – The Georgia Historical Society (GHS) hosted the 2026 Georgia Day Expo on Thursday, February 12, in Savannah as part of the Georgia History Festival and the statewide US250 commemoration. The annual program welcomed more than 1,000 students for a full day of immersive, hands-on learning in recognition of the founding of the Georgia colony on February 12, 1733.
Held at the Alee Shriners Building, the Georgia Day Expo brought Georgia history to life through live demonstrations, performances, and interactive activity booths. The event engaged educators, parents, historical interpreters, and community and civic leaders in a dynamic learning environment that encouraged students to explore the people, events, and ideas that shaped Georgia’s development.

The 2026 Georgia Day Expo aligned with the Georgia History Festival’s theme, A Nation of Laws: Courts and the Foundation of Freedom, inviting students to examine the role of law, justice, and civic institutions in Georgia and the nation’s history. Hosted in an all-weather, indoor venue, the Expo supported a full day of educational programming designed to connect classroom instruction with meaningful historical inquiry.
Open to public, private, and homeschool groups, the Georgia Day Expo was geared primarily toward elementary students, with a particular focus on Georgia’s second-grade history curriculum. Through engaging activities and experiential learning opportunities, the program supported educators and students across the state.
The Georgia Day Expo was generously sponsored by Georgia Power. For event information and a complete listing of Georgia History Festival programs, visit georgiahistoryfestival.org.
