Carol L. Buchenroth was born in Jackson, Wyoming, and Ramon E. Tomé was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Denver.
Ramon holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Wyoming.
Carol and Ramon met during their undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming and wed in Jackson, Wyoming.
Since June 1, 2020, Carol has served as the CEO of United Parcel Service (UPS). Before joining UPS, Carol served as The Home Depot’s Chief Financial Officer for nearly two decades and previously held various other senior leadership finance roles at the company.
Ramon is a retired environmental technologist from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division. For two decades, he was involved with the capturing and cataloging of toxic compounds that are the precursors to formation of ground ozone in Atlanta and the surrounding counties. He is a former board member of the Latin American Association and the Community Foundation For Greater Atlanta and currently serves on the board of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA).
Carol serves as a trustee and board member of many organizations including Metro Atlanta Chamber, Atlanta Committee for Progress, Atlanta Botanical Gardens – Executive Committee, At Large and Trustee, Verizon Communications, Buckhead Coalition, and The Business Council.
Carol and Ramon created two foundations to support organizations and institutions that influence lives to meet the significant challenges of the day. One, The Tomé Foundation, funds educational scholarships at accredited colleges and universities across the United States for students in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum. The other, The Carol and Ramon Tomé Family Fund, a donor advisory fund, supports programs that enable healthy communities, empower economic prosperity, energize the arts, and embrace the environment.
Carol and Ramon set up the Carol and Ramon Tomé Fund at the Georgia Historical Society in 2025.
