Marker Text: On this site stood Herod Town, a Muscogee settlement on Herod Creek, believed to be named for local tribal leader and trader Noah Herod. According to longstanding local tradition, when General Andrew Jackson and his troops came through here in 1818 on the way to Florida during the First Seminole War, they were joined by Herod and his warriors.
Re-erected by the Georgia Historical Society in 2024
