Artist Statement Expand

In my creative project, I created three illustrated bookmarks that represent different stages of O'Connor's passion for visual art (Figure 10). These stages include her childhood love for chickens and reading, her career as a school cartoonist, and her later focus on painting. My intention is for readers to use these bookmarks while reading O'Connor's novels. They can serve as a reminder that there is much more to this writer than just the dark stories they have read.
