Artist Statement Expand

In 2020 I visited the Blue Ridge Mountain area and was able to hike up the steep mountain of Brasstown Bald. The mountain is known to the native Cherokee people as Enotah and is within range of Blood Mountain. This is a special memory for me as I hiked the mountain with my mother and overall. it was wonderful to learn more about the mountain’s heritage and how integral the Cherokee people have been to the integrity of the mountain range’s deep history and landscape. My original artwork, (Figure 5), The Nunnehi Village, depicts my understanding of the sacred helpfulness of the Nunnehi and their deep connection to the mountain region.
