Marker Text: This is one of the free world's most powerful bombers, an atomic bomb carrier. While the Thunderstreak's primary mission is as a fighter bomber, its high performance and versatility make it very desirable for interception and escort missions. It set a transcontinental speed record of 2,445 miles in 3 hours, 44 minutes in 1955 and a non-stop jet fighter distance record of 5,118 miles (London, England to Austin, Texas), using in-flight refueling.
This plane was assigned to the General Electric Co. plant at Schenectady N. Y., where it was used to test electronics and other equipment for 7,883 F-84Fs.
