Cox’s Div. & Dodge’s 16th A.C. Make Contact

*Marker Text: July 17, 1864. Cox's division, 23rd A.C. marching South East from Sandy Springs reached Nancy's Creek at evening and camped on the north side of it. Dodge's 16th A.C. having moved south from Roswell, camped on the creek 1 mile north of Old Cross Keys and 1 mile to Cox's left ~ as planned.

July 18. Both commands [USA] passed through Old Cross Keys settlement. Dodge's column turned east to the Rainey plantation ~ Cox's column division south to the Samuel House plantation.

Hascall's division moving from Burdett's farm on Mt. Paren, joined Cox's line of march and continued southward from the House plantation.
