DESCRIPTION:On September 10\, 2026\, join the Georgia Historical Society as
  author and historian Alan Taylor is inducted as the 2026 Vincent J. Doole
 y Distinguished Teaching Fellow. Following the induction\, enjoy a lively 
 discussion with Dr. Taylor about his groundbreaking scholarly work and pub
 lications. The program will take place in Savannah\, with the time and loc
 ation to be announced shortly.\n\nDooley Distinguished Teaching Fellows ar
 e national leaders in the field of history as both writers and educators w
 hose research has enhanced or changed the way the public understands the p
 ast. Previous inductees include Steve Oney\, Prize-winning journalist and
  historian\, Annette Gordon-Reed\, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and histo
 rian\, Rick Atkinson\, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist\, and
  David W. Blight\, Class of 1954 Professor of American History at Yale Uni

 n American historian and scholar who\, most recently\, was the Thomas Jeff
 erson Memorial Foundation Professor of History at the University of Virgin
 ia. A specialist in the early history of the United States\, Taylor has wr
 itten extensively about the colonial history of the United States\, the Am
 erican Revolution\, and the early American Republic. Taylor has received t
 wo Pulitzer Prizes and the Bancroft Prize\, and was also a finalist for th
 e National Book Award for non-fiction. In 2020 he was elected to the Ameri
 can Philosophical Society.\n\n&nbsp\;
