            <p>The Butts family lived in Dooley County, Georgia and also owned land in Appling County, Georgia.</p>

            <head>Scope and content note</head>
            <p>This collection contains land grants issued to the Butts family from 1820 to 1884. Majority of these land grants are made out to Elijah Butts for his land in Appling County, Georgia. There are also land grants for Jessie C. Butts for the same land in Appling County. Many of these land grants are in fragile condition and have the seal of Georgia attached.</p>
