Organizational history

Bernard F. Diamond (1901-1969) of Savannah, Georgia organized the B. F. Diamond Construction Co., Inc. in 1930 to build steel structures in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland areas. Over the years, the Diamond operations diversified and in 1954 the Diamond Manufacturing Company, Inc. received its corporate charter for the specific purpose of supplying heavy duty marine equipment. Since that time, Diamond Manufacturing has designed and built numerous units of specialized equipment, such as tugboats, barges, dredges, cranes, and special weldments. The Diamond Manufacturing Company was liquidated on 2 September 1988 after a three year struggle to remain in business.
