Lucy Chambers was married to William O. Chambers and resided at 123 East 48th Street in Savannah, Georgia.

 Scope and content note

This collection contains correspondence and clippings from Lucy Chambers dating 1944 to 1963 regarding the disappearance of the Gullah dialect. This was an English based creole language spoken by the Gullah people, also known as Geechees, an African American population living on the Sea Island and coastal region of South Carolina, Georgia, and northeast Florida.
